Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Preamble(“the App”, “we”, “us”), published by Baulin Technologies, handles information when you use the App. The short version: Preamble does not require an account, and the data you create in the App stays on your device.

Information we collect

Preamble is designed to work without collecting personal information. We do not ask you to create an account, sign in, or provide your name, email address, phone number, or location.

Stored only on your device

The following is saved locally on your device (using your device's standard app storage) and is never transmitted to us:

  • Your listening progress and the last position in each chapter.
  • Bookmarks you save.
  • Settings such as dark mode and playback speed.
  • Audio chapters you download for offline listening.

Uninstalling the App removes this information from your device.

Audio streaming

When you stream audio that you have not downloaded, the App requests the audio file from our content delivery provider, Cloudflare R2. As with any request to a server, the provider may automatically process technical information such as your IP address and the file requested to deliver the content and protect against abuse. We do not use this information to identify you.

Purchases

Audio is unlocked through in-app purchases (a one-time unlock per country, or the Preamble Premium subscription), processed by the App Store or Google Play, depending on your device. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never receive or store your payment card details. To remember what you have unlocked and to restore purchases on a new device, we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. RevenueCat receives an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and the purchase receipt from Apple or Google. This is not linked to your real-world identity.

What we do not do

  • We do not show advertising.
  • We do not use third-party advertising networks.
  • We do not sell or rent your information to anyone.
  • We do not build advertising or marketing profiles about you.

We rely on a small number of providers strictly to operate the App:

Children's privacy

Preamble is an educational reference suitable for a general audience. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and the App does not require any personal information to be used.

Data security & retention

Because your in-app data lives on your device, its security is tied to your device. Purchase records held by Apple, Google and RevenueCat are retained according to their own policies for as long as needed to provide and restore your purchases.

Your choices

  • Delete downloaded audio anytime from Settings → Downloads.
  • Clear all locally stored data by uninstalling the App.
  • Manage or request deletion of purchase records via the App Store or Google Play, and RevenueCat.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the App evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new “last updated” date.
